Sharpies and Coffee Mugs

I found this reuse coffee mug at Old Navy this weekend. They look like the throw away kind. The orange banding was calling my Sharpie marker and me to do something to it. The top is before and the bottom is after.

Black and white artist trading cards

These cards are for a swap at http://www.illustratedatcs.com/. The architecture is influenced by my trip this summer into France just across the border from Spain.

Heartfelt Seasons- Chunky Book

Here is a chunky book (4"x4") made from Ten Two Studios digital sheets, the elements. I glued paper hinges to bind the pages together.
The spring and summer pages are from the "Together Elements" and the "Sweet Elements".

The fall and winter pages are from the "Angelic Elements" and the "Festive Elements".

Little Green Cabinets

I bought a ton of these little cabinets when they went on clearance a while back. I did use two green collage sheets from Ten Two Studios.

The cabinet on the left has a four page pullout with images on both sides. Some of them are rubber stamped.

I covered the cabinet with dictionary pages that were colored with walnut ink and drew some landscapes on the narrow side panels before gluing them on.

The cabinet on the left was painted white and distressed a little. The images on the front has a microscope slide over half the face. The other half is on the side.

I did not make anything for the inside. Maybe I will save it for some special letters.

The back side I added some other paper pieces from the green collage sheet.

Ink and Watercolor swap

Here are my artist trading cards for a swap I am participating at http://www.illustratedatcs.com/ As you can tell I am still greatly inspired by my trip to Spain.

I saturated my paper with water then just picked random colors from my watercolor pallet and dropped them on the paper. I used my heat gun, because I hate waiting, to dry the background. I used a .005 micron pen for the landscapes.

Spain 2010

I was so blessed to be able to return to Spain this summer. It was a mission trip with my church. Through some generosity of some benefactors I was able to make my trip. Rather than give the usual tourist trinkets, I am making some "thank-you" art.
Some of these art pieces are watercolor, or watercolor with ink. The northern Spain landscapes were just amazing...
This one was a pleasant accident. I spilled some coffee and paint on the paper before I started. I added more color and darkened in some around the inked in parts so they would stand out more.

Flower girls

These are some artist trading cards created with images from Ten Two Studios. The girls are on the little purple and green collage sheets. The flowers are dictionary page punched from a flower punch. I drew in details of the stem and leaves.

Accidental art

I made this chunky house page using several collage sheets from Ten Two Studios. After I cut out the windows from an old dictionary I used some ink and sprayed over it to make nice effect.
Now you see where I sprayed the ink for the windows for the above artwork and now it is the background for this artwork. I drew this with black sharpie marker. It is in a little frame with a magnet for a fridge, file cabinet or some other metal surface.

Birds and more birds

My art of lately has taken a bird theme. I found some switch plates that were clear for inserting wallpaper. I made some bird art instead.
This little book originally was a book for photographs. I glued on my hand drawn bird on a background I painted with embellishments added. Inside are other drawings and a collage.
I bought a ton of canvases on sale at my favorite art store. So it is about time I used them. Here is a little collage I made with a real bird feather. I used gel medium to cover it and all the paper collage bits.

Runs with Scissors Badges

I have always loved military badges and ribbons. I made these badges from upholstery trim, bottle caps and collage images from Ten Two Studios. They have "runs with scissors" on them. A cheeky little art badge.

Sharpie Cami

My friend Lisa posted this link to me http://blog.theodesign.com/2010/04/armed-with-markers.html

From there I tried my hand with Sharpie markers and some stamping on this cami. I think I might have to invest in a fabric marker.

Matchbook art

The artist Michael De Meng has always inspired me. I was lucky enough to take a class with him a few years ago to learn some of his techniques. This collage was made with a matchbook mounted on some wood I found in my neighbors trash pile. The little image is from Ten Two Studios "Little Diversity" collage sheet.

All things Japanese swap

These are cards I made for a swap at Illustrated ATCs. Ever since my trip to China, Asian themes have a new meaning to me.

Artistic Amulet Swap

Here are my two "amulet" bags for a swap I was in at ATCs for all. The challenge was to make a bag that could be worn from your neck and could carry a credit card or mad money.
