Blue Altered Book

This is the first spread in this book I am altering. It was a book that was going to be thrown out. I have no plans, title or theme. Just letting whatever comes to my mind.

It is mostly experimenting with mediums and whatever intrigues me. I am not sure this page is exactly done. For now here it is.

Altered book - Desire

The real title of this book is "The Architect of Desire" By Suzannah Lessard. I found it on the $1.00 shelf at my favorite used book store. I loved the title and the fact that it was a white covered book.  Which opens to all sorts of notions of altering it.

I began reading the book as I tore out the pages. Consequently my art took on some of the story, which was not what I had originally intended. It is a family story of Stanford White told by his great-grandchild.

I put the book down unfinished for several years and now back working in it with some different eyes looking at it.

Inspired by Gustav Klimt

These are "tall cards" for a Gustav Klimt swap. I tried to be more inspired than literal or copy his work. Since I am not gifted in the drawing of people I chose to use vintage images in keeping with the time period of Gustav Klimt.

I first did a large background with inks, stamps and water color.  Cut up the backgrounds to the sized then layered with images and more ink, stamps and watercolor. I added some gold acrylic paints to enhance some of the work like Gustav Klimt did.

Snow Kings

These are artist trading cards for a swap. They are snow kings. I tried a different style and technique from what I usually do.  They are similar to the ones I made earlier (see below). I used Primsacolor markers to draw in picture, then with a .005 Micron pen went in the marker lines to add some extra detail.

Ball Point Pen Challenge

I use to doodle all the time with ball point pens.  This is an artist trading card, for a swap ball point pen only medium. I love the effect of the pen skipping ink in the foreground. My inspiration was through some photographs of New Mexico.

New Year New Art

I am making a commitment  to post art at least once a week. For this week are three artist trading cards I made to swap out. I usually use my very small Micron pens to draw, so these are pushing me to try something new.
I lightly drew out my pictures in pencil then outlined everything in Primsacolor markers. I went back with smaller ink pens to put in the tiny details. The last thing I used was a Q-tip with dry inks to make the cheeks.

Monochromatic Moos

So what is a MOO? Look here http://us.moo.com/products/minicards.html
Instead of ordering MOO I made these monochromatic set. Actually I made one big piece and cut it to the correct MOO size 1"X2.75".

House Moo

These are the latest fad in art swaps. Sometime in the recent past business/calling cards went to an approximate 1"x 2.75" called a MOO. Like Rolodex cards they have now made it into art swaps.

These are for a swap at ATCsforall.com, house moo swap. I used the images are from Ten Two Studios "Little Yellow" collage sheet.
